The Helotes EDC hereby gives notice, pursuant to Texas Local Government Code, Sec. 505.158, that it will conduct a sixty (60) day comment period that will open on May 2, 2020 and will close on July 1, 2020 for the consideration to use Type B sales tax funds for a Small Business Assistance Program that will be used to offer zero interest loans to businesses that are impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic.

Public Hearings are scheduled for Wednesday, May 13 2020 at 7 p.m. at the Economic Development Board Special meeting and on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 7 p.m. at the City Council meeting; both will be held at Helotes City Hall, 12951 Bandera Rd., Helotes, TX 78023. Note that funding for the Small Business Recovery Program requires approval by the Helotes EDC Board of Directors and the Helotes City Council.

The proposal constitute economic development “Project,” as defined by Texas Local Govt. Code Chapter 505 Type B Corporations.

Virtual Public Meeting - SH 16 Helotes

When: Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

The virtual public meeting will be available online beginning Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at 5 p.m. and will stay open until the comment period ends on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at 5 p.m.

Purpose: The purpose of the virtual public meeting is to present the planned improvements and gather public comments on the proposed roadway improvement to SH 16 from approximately 0.3 miles west of the FM 1560/Leslie Road intersection to Loop 1604 in the cities of Helotes and San Antonio in Bexar County, Texas. A pre-recorded presentation, materials for review, and opportunity for comment will be available. Comments must be received on or before Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

Description: TxDOT is evaluating this stretch of SH 16 to consider and recommend operational and safety improvements. Goals for the project include:

  • Reducing conflict points at intersections in order to improve safety
  • Improving the efficiency of traffic signals in order to increase traffic flow through green lights
  • Filling the gap between the current SH 16 intersection improvements at FM 1560 on the west and Loop 1604
  • Reducing traffic congestion and delays while increasing safety
